I was so very blessed to spend time with Pastor Randall Floyd and his lovely wife Cindy and their son Christopher over the weekend. What a blessing to be able to share with the folks at Clayton, New Mexico Assembly of God yesterday! I got to know Pastor Randall through the Hub of New Mexico, an internet Christian radio station that is, sadly, no longer on the air. I have watched the Floyd family minister now for 4 to 5 years, the older I get, it is harder for me to remember exact years of friendships! ……they are such an awesome testimony to us all on what it means to walk in faith.

The Floyd’s have been serving in Clayton for 14 years. I have traveled to various parts of New Mexico in my 10 years of Circuit Preaching, I was a Preacher before the start of FGGAM, which will be 7 years young in August of this year, anyhow, I know how hard many churches have it. What I mean by that is ‘holding onto a Pastor.’

Pastor Randall and Cindy and their son’s Michael and Christopher have made solid contributions to the Clayton community in many ways. Pastor Randall has even taught at the Clayton school for a bit, Cindy is a fill-time nurse, Michael and Christopher have used their musical talents in many ways in their testimony to the Clayton community. Clayton’s population is just around 2500. The Floyd’s were called to minister to the Clayton area and continue to do so in a glorious way!

What I mean about ‘holding onto a Pastor’ is this……..so many communities in rural America do not have a Pastor, and have to call on circuit riders, like myself. I have been serving in Reserve, New Mexico as a circuit preacher now going on 7 years. Many rural Churches in New Mexico are without a Pastor. Clayton is so very blessed by the Floyd family.

It is so very important to know your calling from God. The Floyd’s were called to Clayton and look what has happened, a strong ministry that shines the light into Clayton, New Mexico and also into Oklahoma and Texas! Clayton is tucked nicely into the very north east corner of New Mexico. State boundaries have not stopped the Clayton Assembly of God Church from ministering into Oklahoma and Texas.

I love having Heroes of Faith, they help fuel my tank with energy and Godly wisdom. The Floyd family inspires me and Sharon so much. I am small town preacher, I love small towns, I am from Windom, Minnesota, population around 4500. I have done Revivals there, I love my hometown, I love the feel of a small town. As I mentioned I have been serving in Reserve, New Mexico almost 7 years, population of Reserve is around 300!I love the folks at First Baptist Church in Reserve!!! I love all the people in Catron County! I love small churches, the intimacy is extra special.

Pastor Randall and Cindy celebrate 26 years of marriage this Wednesday! God Bless you both and the boys! We love you all! Pictured here is Pastor Randall and his lovely wife Cindy!

Yesterday I emphasized the importance of us all in carrying out the Great Commission! The Floyd’s are certainly doing that!

Matthew 28

The Great Commission
18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”…

Are you carrying out the Great Commission? If not, why not?

Here is part of a post from Pastor Randall that he wrote last week………..

Clayton A/G is a small, but vibrant church where “family” is a key word. We look out for one another and do our best to show genuine love and concern for each other. We call ourselves Church for the REST of Us! for two key reasons: 1) we want you to find REST for your entire being when you come here. We don’t water down the Gospel, but do believe that we find true rest when we strive to live in obedience to the Word of God. 2) we are here for the REST of you that think you don’t fit in to the “church culture”. One running joke we have is that ours is a very strict dress code – you have to be. Meaning? We ask that you dress respectfully and with modesty, but we’re not a “suit and tie” and “dressy dress” kind of people. In fact, Pastor Randall Floyd is about the only one that wears “suit and tie”, and that’s only once in awhile during the colder part of the year. We’re here to be the family of God, not to put on a show for church-goers.
Although a smaller congregation in a small rural town, we do a lot of outreach in the area. We fly “kite-strings” into six school districts in our region (covering over 3,000 square miles of territory), taking school supplies and snacks/gifts for staff every 4 to 6 weeks, just to let these people know we love and appreciate them. Our goal? To build bridges into these communities and share the love of Christ through our actions AND words.
We also live stream our Sunday morning services and Wednesday night Bible Study on Pastor Randall Floyd’s Facebook page. Also, check us out at Clayton Assembly of God . If you’re in the Clayton area, join us – especially this week as Pastor Dewey Moede visits to share the Word of God!
