Because I love Zion, I will not keep still. Because my heart yearns for Jerusalem, I cannot remain silent. I will not stop praying for her until her righteousness shines like the dawn, and her salvation blazes like a burning torch. Isaiah 62:1

The next day of prayer and fasting will be on Wednesday, January 9th, 2018.

ISAIAH 62 PRAYER LETTER FOR JANUARY WEEK 2

It has become an established practice at the ICEJ to start the new year with an intensive time of prayer, and this is for a good reason. As we stand at the beginning of a new season, we look upon God who knows the end from the beginning, and we pray that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. This applies to global developments, our countries and governments, and to our families and personal lives as well. May the upcoming year be a season when we draw closer to God and are transformed into His image.

In the beginning, God created man in His own image. It is a remarkable thread in the Bible that God keeps giving mankind new beginnings: after the first sin, after the Flood, after the Tower of Babel, after the sin with the golden calf, after the destruction of the Temple… God is faithful even if we are unfaithful. The whole story of Israel is a testimony to God’s faithfulness.

ISAIAH 62 PRAYER POINTS FOR JANUARY: Week 2

1. Pray for Israel

Election Season
Israel is now facing elections this spring: the ruling coalition, governing with a small margin of one seat, decided to dissolve the Knesset and go into new elections in April. Pray for God’s hand over the elections, for we know that ultimately, it is the Lord who moves people’s hearts.

Pray for the security of Israel during the election season and for wisdom for the new Government. Pray in particular for protection from attacks from Hezbollah in the North and from Gaza in the South.

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.” (Proverbs 21:1)

“The protector of Israel never dozes or sleeps. The Lord will guard you; He is by your side to protect you. The sun will not hurt you during the day, nor the moon during the night. The Lord will protect you from all danger; He will keep you safe. He will protect you as you come and go now and forever.” (Psalm 121:4-8)

2. Pray for the Middle East

God Moving Among the Arab Nations
Pray for the Arab nations in the Middle East. The descendants of Ishmael have a blessing in the Bible and the Spirit of God has been moving in these nations mightily, sweeping many into the Kingdom of God. At the same time, political developments indicate that Israel could be diplomatically recognized by some Arab Sunni nations soon. Pray that the purposes of God be fulfilled among the Arabs.

“And Abraham said to God, ‘Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!’ Then God said: ‘No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall beget twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.’” (Genesis 17:18-20)

“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.” (1 Timothy 2:3-5)

3. Pray for the ICEJ

Update: ICEJ Headquarters Building

As the search for ICEJ’s new home continues, we have narrowed it down to several promising options. As the ICEJ Board and leadership prayerfully deliberate between these properties, continue to pray for wisdom and clear leading from the Lord, as well as provision of funds and other resources required for this major move. Please stand with us in faith believing this new building will help us represent Christians around the world in a worthy manner.

“Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches will be in his house, and his righteousness endures forever…. A good man deals graciously and lends; He will guide his affairs with discretion.” (Psalm 112:1-5)

“that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Colossians 2:2-3)
