ILE-IFE, OSUN STATE, NIGERIA

The number 7 in Scripture is used 735 times (54 times in the book of Revelation alone). If we include how many times “sevenfold” (6) and “seventh” (119) are used, the total jumps to 860 references!

Seven is considered by scholars to be the number of completeness, perfection and achievement (both physical and spiritual). It derives much of its meaning from being tied directly to God’s creation of all things in six days with God’s Sabbath rest being on seventh day (Genesis 1:1-31, 2:1-4).  In the book of Revelation, God sent letters to seven churches and speaks of seven spirits (the Holy Spirit) that are before God’s throne, seven lampstands that represent those churches and seven stars that speak of the messengers of each one.

Our 7th Proclaimer was sent to the Diaspora missions group and is almost on the ground in the city of Ile-Ife, in the Osun State, known as “the cradle of Yoruba, an ancient ethnic group that dates back to 500 B.C. The name, Ile-Ife, literally means “place of dispersion” and according to Yoruba tradition it was founded by two deities who created the world. Today it is a city of over 500,000, most of whom need to know about Jesus.

The Proclaimer audio device contains the Yoruba language, as well as three other ethnic dialects in the area: Hausa, Fulfulde and Bariba, which will provide a great tool to the oral learners in the rural villages and present the real story of the creation. To God be the glory!

Thank you all for your prayers in helping us reach into places like Ile-Ife and assist the faithful Christian workers who are there. Maranatha!
