PROPHETIC WORD FOR 2019
IT’S TIME TO PASS THROUGH DEEP WATERS

Isaiah 43:2: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.” NKJV
Isaiah 43:2: “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” NLT

I typically have a prophetic word for the upcoming year quite early, but this year was different. I really didn’t have anything, and I wasn’t stressing about it, I knew that if God had something He would share that with me. I was casually studying for an upcoming series I will be preaching and this verse is part of one of my messages. As I began to study this passage, very quickly I realized this is a word for 2019. It’s time to pass through some deep waters, let me explain.

I specifically got stuck on the first part of this passage, “When you pass through the waters.” Some translations say, “deep waters.” I’ve combined these two translations in my title, “It’s time to pass through deep waters.” When you study what that phrase means in the original text you find that to pass through indicates a transition, it indicates entering into something.

Have you ever waded in a river or a body of water? I used to go fishing a lot in my younger years. Most of the time we would go fishing in the brooks so there wasn’t room for a boat, we had to wade from one end of the brook to the other. When in shallow water it was easy, you could see where you were stepping, you could say the deeper holes and the rocks that could cause you to slip and fall. But there were times the brook would lead into a larger pond of water, typically caused by a beaver dam. As you got into that deeper water it got to the point where you couldn’t really see how deep it was or where you were stepping, but at the same time, you wanted to get to the other side, you didn’t want to turn around and go back, so you took a chance and went for it. Keep in mind, I didn’t know how to swim so this was a little more of a chance for me to take. I had to trust that I would keep my footing and wouldn’t slip into a deep hole or slip on a rock and drown.

Spiritually speaking, for 2019, it’s time to pass through some deep waters. It’s time to enter into something, transition into something, where you won’t be able to see what’s in front of you. I will be like wading in deep waters. You’re going to have to trust that God has every step of yours directed, He’s not going to allow you to slip and drown.

The key to the first part of the passage is the last part, “And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.” Are you ready to step into some deep waters? I challenge you to go for it in 2019. Don’t look for those shallow waters that are easy to pass through, go for the deep waters, take risks, and watch God work in your life.
