Spring Forward; Fall Back

Yeah, it’s that time again.   Officially, at 2 am on Sunday November 4th, we are to turn our clocks back one hour bringing an end to our annual Daylight Savings Time.  (I have yet to meet anyone who arises at 2 am to do this ritual, but I bet someone will).   Why do we do this?   Well, it is so we can work longer in the daylight, maybe play, and save natural energy resources.  I guess, ultimately it is about the dollar.

I am not aware of many folk that truly enjoy doing this.  I read where the early darkness often results in confusion on the one hand and depression on the other.  I guess when I was a child and my time to come inside in the evening was marked by the lighting of the street lights, I may have enjoyed playing with my neighbors longer.

Oh, before I forget, I am supposed to remind you to change your clocks before going to bed tonight.  So, be sure to turn your clocks back an hour before you hit your pillow.

While we certainly are free to play with our time pieces as we wish, but in reality time is very important to God, or should I say, timing?  There are events that time has some affect upon, and God is the One Who sets the timing of these things He deemed important enough to record for our knowledge.  Let just mention a few from the Word:

  To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)

 “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment”  (Hebrews 9:27)

 “behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”              (2 Corinthians 6:2b)

Beloved, more important than checking your clock, you might need to check the timing of your trusting your Creator for an eternity in heaven with Him . . . before “Time” runs out for you.   My friend, Fall Back into His Everlasting Arms!
