Matthew 5:29-30 (NKJV):  If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.  And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

The question always comes up, “Is Jesus really telling us to pluck our eye or cut off our hand?” The answer is yes and no.

Jesus wants us to be living our lives Righteously when we follow Him. He wants us to put away things from the old and focus on the new. He comes to change our thinking and our direction. We are so used to living for ourselves that we have become self-centered and selfish.

Jesus is exhorting that in order to live a life of Righteousness, we need to do whatever it takes to remove those things that drag us down. An example could be if TV, Social Media, Jobs, Hobbies, etc. is something that leads us away from him, then we need to put them to the side and focus on Him. He wants to spend time with us and these are things that can distract us from Him.

These things also could lead to us doing harm. They could keep us from our families or even influence us to walk a path of sin. This is not what He Hopes for us. Instead, He Hopes we chose to Focus on Him.

Are there things in your life you need to do away with? Maybe it’s time to Ask Him to show You and ask for Strength to stay away. Now is the time to Repent and come to Him.

We will continue  be looking at the Sermon on The Mount. Although,  we need Jesus to bring us back into A Relationship with God The Father, The Sermon on The Mount deals with Heart Issues which is what we should look at when learning to have that Relationship with God.
If we are to please God, we need to allow The Holy Spirit to set us apart. We need to pursue a sinless life. We are to seek Righteousness. How do we do it? Through prayer, study, fellowship, being willing to be corrected/accountability, discipleship, and service.

It starts with Our Relationship with Jesus. If you don’t have a Relationship with Him or you need to rekindle that Relationship, do it now. Call out to Him and seek his Love and Forgiveness. It really is as hard or easy as you make it.

We should look to Him daily to seek a relationship with Him. I want to encourage you to seek Him today, if you haven’t already. If you need help, have questions or need direction in this regard, please, feel free to let me know.

Maybe today you are struggling with something. Maybe you may have found yourself not as close to The Lord as you thought. We would like to help you in this through prayer and guidance.
