Blessed Are…, Matthew 5:11-12

Matthew 5:11-12 (NKJV):  Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Revile – 1. to assail with contemptuous or opprobrious language; address or speak of abusively. 2. to speak abusively. (www.dictionary.com)

Last time we looked at persecution. We discovered that America really has not suffered persecution like other countries when it comes to sharing The Gospel. However, we look that Jesus also included those who have been reviled against. This would cover all of us in all of The Western Countries, to include the U.S.

If we think about it, there have been times when we have shared our Faith with others and they said some pretty nasty things. They even went as far as saying that we are depending on a “crutch” or that we are “foolish” for believing. This is where we find that these insults can be pretty wearing on us. However, when we think about what Jesus said, here He said, we would be blessed. Why? well think about when he said to those around, ““Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 10:32-33) Our blessing comes from that He will tell God The Father about us because we are sharing Him with others without fear.

Think about this, whether or not we suffer from persecution or from being reviled for sharing our Love and Faith in Jesus, our rewards will greatly exceed what others give us in what they would intend for harm. Remember, He was persecuted and reviled. He said the servant is not better than The Master and that we would experience this too. Keep sharing without fear because of The Love He has shown you and He will not only reward you but He will be there with you.

We will continue  be looking at the Sermon on The Mount, continuing with The Beatitudes. Although,  we need Jesus to bring us back into A Relationship with God The Father, The Sermon on The Mount deals with Heart Issues which is what we should look at when learning to have that Relationship with God.
If we are to please God, we need to allow The Holy Spirit to set us apart. We need to pursue a sinless life. We are to seek Righteousness. How do we do it? Through prayer, study, fellowship, being willing to be corrected/accountability, discipleship, and service.

It starts with Our Relationship with Jesus. If you don’t have a Relationship with Him or you need to rekindle that Relationship, do it now. Call out to Him and seek his Love and Forgiveness. It really is as hard or easy as you make it.

We should look to Him daily to seek a relationship with Him. I want to encourage you to seek Him today, if you haven’t already. If you need help, have questions or need direction in this regard, please, feel free to let me know.

Maybe today you are struggling with something. Maybe you may have found yourself not as close to The Lord as you thought. We would like to help you in this through prayer and guidance.
