Drawing Strength

Isaiah 40:29-31 He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; He offers strength to the weak. Even youths will become exhausted and young men will give up. But those who wait on the LORD will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. (NLT)

One morning I was sitting out back drinking my coffee and watching the wind play in the trees. I was sapped, tired and totally worn out. My Beloved’s still, small voice, “Draw strength from Me.”

As I sat there thinking on Him and talking with Him, I felt myself revive and the weariness left me. I was resting in Him, not striving or thinking about striving. I was just thinking about Him.

Matthew 11:28 Then Jesus said, “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. (NLT)

We’re not meant to run ourselves to the ground or carry heavy burdens. (See my post: Lay it Down Feb.1,2015)

As I was looking up scriptures for this post, I noticed how Jesus, after times of ministering, would go away by Himself to pray. He was drawing strength from Abba. Jesus, fully God, yet fully Man. His physical body got tired, too.

Matthew 14:23 And after He had sent the multitudes away, He went up to the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone. (NASB)

Mark 1:35 The next morning Jesus awoke long before daybreak and went out alone into the wilderness to pray. (NLT)

Mark 6:46 And after bidding them farewell, He departed to the mountain to pray.(NASB)

Luke 5:16 But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer. (NLT)

I have learned to draw away with Him as soon as I feel myself wearing out and He is ever faithful to strengthen and refresh me. He is faithful and strong, and though we are in constant companionship, there are times that I just need to be still in His loving presence. Sometimes, it’s a simple word from Him, “I’ve got this.” or “Stop trying to do My job, Dove.”

Draw close today beloved ones, and let Him strengthen you.

Isaiah 41:10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with My victorious right hand. (NLT)
