Post Memorial Day Prayer

Great and Mighty, Eternal God, what can we say?  We, as a nation, have been so wrong; are so wrong, and will continue in our wrongness if we, in our sinfulness, cannot, will not, reach out to You while lying on our faces before You, in all Your holiness.  We are lost without You, and are seemingly by our behavior, not even aware of this fact.  Awaken us, I pray!

LORD God, We confess the very fiber of America has unraveled.  We are nothing more than a worthless piece of cloth of what was once a great, wholesome, God honoring nation.   Even the colors of our once called, “Old Glory” have faded into being just forgotten, even despised.  What would our founding fathers think if they could see their America today?

Eternal Father, You Who are the Beginning, of which we cannot comprehend,  I am very hopeful in the truth of Your eternalness not being affected by the time which we humans are prisoners.   You have not bound Yourself to time.  Time cannot touch You.  You are more concerned with timing than with time.  Therein, lies my hope for this sin-sick nation.

Another hope I have in You is Your own Word speaking of Your heart for man in 2 Peter 3:9:  “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

Precious LORD, this is not an attempt to manipulate Who You are with Your Holy Word.    However, I see a window of opportunity for one more, great outpouring of Your Spirit upon this land to the reviving of Your Church and the awakening of men and women, and girls and boys to repentance leading to salvation . . . before the end must come.

Dear Jesus, by Your Holy Spirit, please draw Your Church to humbly own the sin that prevails within her walls and homes, in deep brokenness, sorrow, grief, and Spirit led repentance.   May this be swift and effectual to the cleansing healing of the Church and this land, to Your glory, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
