Please beware that this afternoon and evening will be one of those windy days here in New Mexico. Blowing dust and dangerous crosswinds. Gusting to 50 mph in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, Gusts to 60 central mountains eastward. We are praying for the safety of all!

We pray against any wildfires.

WIND AND DUST FORECAST

A vigorous low pressure system and associated cold front will cross New Mexico Thursday. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory effective from 11 AM to 9 PM Thursday.

The rainfall we had this past weekend will suppress blowing dust as the winds begin to pick up Thursday. However, if thunderstorms develop, and there is a chance of that, then a great deal of blowing dust can be expected anyway.

Also, blowing dust can be expected anywhere soils are being actively disturbed. In addition to being prepared to shut down operations quickly Thursday afternoon, contractors should also leave their sites thoroughly watered down at the end of the work day.

Thursday: Southwest winds increasing to 25-35 mph with gusts to 50 mph. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs 62-64.

This forecast is being sent as a public service to area contractors and businesses that must comply with Albuquerque-Bernalillo County’s fugitive dust regulation.  Please call David Duran at 768-1957 or Tony Romero at 228-6989 for assistance.
