Why Are We Not Responding?

Isaiah 6 (NKJV): In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
The whole earth is full of His glory!” And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips;
Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.” Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” And He said, “Go, and tell this people: ‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’ 10 “Make the heart of this people dull, And their ears heavy, And shut their eyes; Lest they see with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And return and be healed.” 11 Then I said, “Lord, how long?” And He answered: “Until the cities are laid waste and without inhabitant, The houses are without a man, The land is utterly desolate, 12 The Lord has removed men far away, And the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land. 13 But yet a tenth will be in it, And will return and be for consuming, As a terebinth tree or as an oak, Whose stump remains when it is cut down. So the holy seed shall be its stump.”

Let’s take a close look at Isaiah 6 for a minute. What we see here is something that is so amazing that if we just skim over it, we will miss it.

Here Isaiah realizes he is in the presence of The Lord. Here he recognizes that his iniquities keep him from being close to The Lord. He knew that if he got closer in his present state he would die. But, what happens? God sent an angel to cleanse his lips. He did this so that Isaiah could be closer to The Lord.

Then we see something else happen. God asks who should He send out to tell others. Did God really not know who He would send? No, He knew that Isaiah would go. If he knew Isaiah would go, then why would he ask? This was to give Isaiah the desire to go out for Him. He did this so that Isaiah’s heart was stirred up to proclaim God’s Love for all. It would appear that Isaiah was already stirred up because of what The Lord did for him.

Before Isaiah went out, He asked how long he should spread The Word of God. God’s answer? Well, if you look at what He said, essentially He said to do it until the world came to an end. Yes, we know that Isaiah has died and graduated to be with The Lord in Heaven. Yes, we know that the world did not end while he was still alive. So, why did The Lord tell him until the world ended? Because He was telling Isaiah, “If you really are willing to go out for Me, then go out until you no longer can.”

Do you know that no one was converted during Isaiah’s ministry? DO you know that Isaiah was mocked? Do you realize that his prophesy fell on deaf ears? What’ really great though, Isaiah never stopped until he died.

So, how does this apply to us today? We are in a time when there are others who hunger for God’s Word and not many are going out anymore. Many are being timid because they fear for their lives. Why should they fear for their lives when the Prophets and the Apostles were willing to go out knowing they may not live? Why is it that those who used to preach The Word of God without fear are fewer in number?

Do you know that America used to be the biggest in sending out missionaries? Do you know that places like Mexico, Africa, India and other places looked to America because many would go out in the mission field willing to lose life and limb to share The Love of Christ? Do you know that America is now among the lowest of who sends out missionaries? What could be the problem?

It appears that America, among other countries, has become complacent. It appears that because of the blessing s that America and other countries had received because of Obedience of carrying out The Great Commission, they became like the rich landowner that Jesus talked about.

Luke 12:16-21 (NKJV): Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. 17 And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ 18 So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.”’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ 21 “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

It appears that as we gained more in blessings, the greedier we became. God blesses us so that we can share it with others and to help them. When we start to become more focused on the blessings and not focused on what HE wants, we will start to lose out on the stuff we have. In fact, we will become slave to the material things and will never find true happiness.

We need to repent. We need to get back to fulfilling The Great Commission of “Go Make Disciples of Al Nations” (Matthew 28:19). We need to get back to focusing on Jesus and not material. We can’t have both as the center of our focus.

It starts with Our Relationship with Jesus. If you don’t have a Relationship with Him or you need to rekindle that Relationship, do it now. Call out to Him and seek his Love and Forgiveness. It really is as hard or easy as you make it.

We should look to Him daily to seek a relationship with Him. I want to encourage you to seek Him today, if you haven’t already. If you need help, have questions or need direction in this regard, please, feel free to let me know.
