Heart in Prayer

Can you visualize the last time that Jesus was with His disciples?  It was sometime during the hours of darkness, though the moon and stars may have illuminated it with a warming glow; the lights the Creator hung in His heavens.    There may have been fresh dew on the flowers, grasses, perhaps even on a few scattered boulders.  Together they had been down in the city; the upper room specifically, for the Passover meal.    Jesus led them; perhaps still sing the hymn they had begun earlier in the room.   Jesus guided them still down the narrow city streets, out the gate, across the Kidron Valley, up the hill, and arriving at the Mount of Olives to a spot called Gethsemane.    It is here the Master says one of the last words He spoke before the Cross, which may have burned into their hearts many hours later.

A believer should live with his heart leaning in toward Gethsemane, the place of the Master’s lone strain of spirit, each time he quietly slips into his closet of prayer.   Hear His words:   “. . . watch with Me one Hour.   Watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

O beloved believer, take your knee in your place of prayer and strive together with the Spirit, for the world and His Kingdom.  Pray On!
