Life Verse(s)

Luke 17:10 (NKJV): So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.’

Do you have a life verse or verses? Why is it important to have them? It’s like having a mission statement for a company, they help you focus on what your call in your life is. Everyone has that verse or more that’s their favorite. It could be this is how The Holy Spirit is revealing to you what your giftings are and what your calling is to serve Our Lord.

For example, the verse here, and this is the one I did send at earlier in prayer today, is my life verse. It reminds me that whatever I do, I do it for Jesus not for me. It has helped me to take the focus off myself and put it on Him and others. It has helped me to take a look around me and see where God would have me.

Psalm 119:9-16 (NKJV): Luke 17:10 (NKJV): How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. ¹⁰ With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! ¹¹ Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. ¹² Blessed are You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes. ¹³ With my lips I have declared All the judgments of Your mouth. ¹⁴ I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches. ¹⁵ I will meditate on Your precepts, And contemplate Your ways. ¹⁶ I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.

This, although another one of my favorite passages and probably another life passage for me, is a great example of why we should have a life verse or verses. Here we see the Psalmist talking about burying God’s Word in our hearts so that we don’t falter. A life verse or passage is great to help us remember that God is the one Who directs us and changes us.

Call out to Him and seek his Love and Forgiveness. It really is as hard or easy as you make it.
