Pray for Avery Please

We just got this from a Dear Friend……..please join us in praying for Avery……..

This is the hardest thing I have ever had to post. Yesterday, our sweet Avery was diagnosed with a brainstem tumor called DIPG. It is incurable and very little treatment exists. Average prognosis is 9-12
months.

Right now, she is only struggling with an altered gait, clumsiness, and reduced movement of left eye causing double vision (which in turn is causing some vomiting and nausea). She also has some facial weakness, which is what prompted me to take her to doctor in first place.

We went to Duke yesterday, anticipating admission, but since they cannot really do anything for her, we were discharged. We are going to discuss some clinical trials that are ongoing in DC that might prolong our time with her, and she will likely be having a biopsy of tumor next week.

Either way, she will be undergoing 5-6 weeks of radiation, daily, and will be sedated each day. This will hopefully shrink tumor, and give us a “honeymoon period” of quality time. We are applying to make a wish and trying to figure out how to make the most of the next few months.

We are living a nightmare and I find it hard to breathe when I think about what is to come. I am clinging to Jesus and praying for a miracle, but I know that regardless of what happens, we are in His hands, and we thank God for the good times we have had.

Please pray for us. We don’t need anything else right now, but if we do, I’ll let people know. Thank you to those who have messaged me and prayed for us and offered food, etc. Your love and support means everything right now.

Edit: I have made this post public if anyone wants to share it. We could use all the prayers we can get.

#prayforavery Please keep this family in your prayers.

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people– 1 Timothy 2:1

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:18
