What are we going to do?

We continue to pray for Las Vegas and the whole world………What else can you and I do?From Dr. Jim Denison at FGGAM.ORG this morning….There have been more than 270 mass shootings in the United States so far this year. The ultimate answer to violence is the Prince of Peace. Only his Spirit can transform broken sinners into loving servants.

The Las Vegas shooting reinforces the urgency of praying, serving, and sharing God’s love with everyone we can, whenever we can. Tomorrow is promised to no one.

From our Dear Friend Dr. Michelle Bengtson……….

Life can change in an instant. Quicker than you can take a breath or finish a thought.

Have you ever been there?

The suddenness of a car accident.
The loss of a life.
The shock of a medical diagnosis.

In just one moment, our lives can change forever, leaving us gasping for breath. As overwhelming pain enters in, the familiar fades away taking with it our hopes, our dreams, our plans. All ripped away. Those once beautiful places in our lives are replaced with pain, anguish, and unanswered questions.

What happens then? What do we do?

It’s during those times that we have to guard our minds and take our thoughts captive by standing firmly on God’s word and replacing with truth the lies of the enemy that deceive, distort and cast doubt.

During those times, we turn to God and become helplessly dependent on Him.

We are safe with God. There is actually no safer place than in His Presence. He knows how pain feels. He is well acquainted with our sorrow.

When we feel the shame of our dirtiness, God reminds us the blood of Jesus has already made us clean.

When we feel ashamed of our brokenness, God reminds us His light shines through broken places. He turns our ashes into beauty.

When we focus on the ugliness of our scars, God shows us that healing has come eliminating the hurt caused by the scars.

Suffering brings change.

Our lives are only temporary. Our hope is in the Lord. With salvation, we are assured of eternal life where there will be no more pain, no more tears, no more goodbyes. Suffering can cause us to refocus our attention upward.

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things” (Colossians 3:2).

Can you trust Him in your suffering?
