Life starts when?

This is just a thought I have for those who try to define when life begins. I can use and quote Scripture about when God defines Life like, Jeremiah 1:5 (NASB): “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.” However, this is not my intent. I am not coming at this with the typical Biblical World view you would expect from A Christian Pastor who defends life. Instead, I am going to use things from your perspective.

In Biology, there is a lot of time talked about the cell. (I won’t spend a lot of time here about the whole make-up of the cell.) Basically, when you look at the makeup of a cell, there seems to be a lot of time showing how it is alive and some would even say that it is a community.

The biggest thing I notice is that the cell’s make-up is discussed prior to the discussion of how life came into being. Most of the time, in these Biology classes, which by the way is The Study of Life for those who do not know, they follow the Evolution Theory. With this thought in mind, no matter how life is started, “Big Bang Theory” or otherwise, the idea is that at some point the cell is formed and it takes on the ability to split and then we get multiple splits to form what ever life there is.

With Humans, there is no difference. The sperm fertilizes the egg and then we see a process of these cells splitting and forming a life.

It’s interesting to see that on one side there is a lot of effort to show how a cell is a life form, but on the other side that a fetus is not until it is born out of the womb.

I have to ask, do you see the hurdles that have to be jumped to go from one end of the spectrum to the other to say that cells are life forms but to say a fetus, that is comprised of many, many, many cells is not? Isn’t that being double-minded in this aspect?
