Wars Rage on in Syria, Iraq and Yemen

The Al Qaeda terrorist network issued a statement on Thursday admitting that a CIA drone strike had killed senior leader Abu Al Khayr Al Masri in Syria which it described as a “new crime by America and the crusader coalition”. Also on Thursday, military forces loyal to the regime fo Syrian president Bashar Assad and allied Shi’ite militias controlled by Iran and supported by Russia announced that they had re-captured the ancient city of Palmyra from the Islamic State (IS) terror militia.

IDF General Warns Hamas on Ties to Islamic State

IDF Maj.-Gen. Yoav Mordechai, the head of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) unit wrote in Arabic on Facebook on Thursday “Hamas leaders: Your efforts to hide your cooperation with Islamic State’s smuggling from Sinai, through lies and manipulation in attempts to broadcast ‘business as usual’ with Egypt, are not hidden from our view.” The post came after a week in which the IDF exchanged fire with terrorists in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip on several occasions.

Israelis Mourn Death of Photographer David Rubinger

Israelis were in mourning Thursday following the death on Wednesday of David Rubinger, an Israel-Prize laureate whose photography made him one of the country’s most famous citizens.  Rubinger, who was 92 when he died, is most well-known for the taking the iconic picture of IDF paratroopers moments after their liberation of the Western Wall in Jerusalem’s Old City on 7 June, 1967.

Court in Egypt Exonerates Mubarak

The top appeals court in Egypt issued a ruling on Thursday that former President Hosni Mubarak is not guilty of any criminal wrongdoing regarding the deaths of several protesters during clashes with police during the uprising which drove him from power in 2011. The court also ruled that civil suits and further appeals had been pursued as far as the law allowed and would not be re-opened, leading analysts to speculate that Mubarak, who is 88 years old, may soon be a free man despite receiving a life sentence in 2012 for various crimes surrounding the uprisings.
