Netanyahu Announces Israel’s Own ‘Pivot to Asia’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continued his successful trip to Singapore Tuesday evening by announcing at a state dinner in his honor hosted by Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong that the Jewish State is pivoting toward Asia in a “very clear and purposeful way.” He added that as part of this, he will be visiting China next month and hosting the Indian Prime Minister in Jerusalem over the summer.

Jack Teitel On Hunger Strike in Prison

Yaakov (Jack) Teitel, the Jewish terrorist who was convicted of murdering two Palestinian men and attempting to murder several other people, including Messianic Jewish teenager Ami Ortiz, began a hunger strike on 11 February to protest what his lawyer says are inhumane conditions at the Rimonim maximum security prison.

Military Court Sentences Hebron Shooter

The Jaffa Military Court on Tuesday sentenced IDF soldier Elor Azaria to 18 months in prison following his manslaughter conviction for killing Palestinian terrorist Abdel Fatah al-Sharif on 24 March, 2015 while he was incapacitated and lying on the ground wounded. Azaria was also demoted from the military rank of sergeant to private. Although shorter than what the IDF prosecutors had requested, the sentence is too long for Azaria’s lawyers, who said they will appeal.

Israeli Sports Fans Get Cheerful News

Israeli sports fans got some cheerful news recently as Yaniv Kovalski, an offensive lineman for the tackle football club Tel Aviv Pioneers and the Israeli National team was awarded a scholarship to play at Stonehill, a Division II Roman Catholic, liberal arts college located in Easton, Massachusetts. Kovalski will be the fourth veteran of the Israel Football League to play college football in the US. In other sports news, Israeli Israeli forward Omri Casspi, who has played the last few seasons with the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, was traded this week to the New Orleans Pelicans.

Jerusalem’s ICC Named One of the Best in the World

The Jerusalem International Convention Center (Binyenei Ha’uma) delivered yet another blow to the international effort to Boycott, Divest and Sanction (BDS) Israel by achieving a top 10 worldwide ranking by Business Destinations Magazine. “Since its establishment, the ICC has consistently earned the respect of customers from around the world,” the magazine wrote in its annual 2017 winter edition. “As Israel’s official representative convention center, the ICC is considered a national institution.”
