Choosing Sides

Choosing sides is not always easy, whether it’s choosing a favorite sports team or between fries and an apple, but we make choices everyday…and some are very serious.  Many have chosen to protest our recent Presidential election; to march with women who feel oppressed and others to march for life.  Before we make a choice of which side to take in important matters like these, we need to be sure it’s the right one.

As a country, choosing our current President proved to be a most difficult task.  Many are still not sure we made the right choice…. but it is done.  We must live with the choice we made.  For the ones supporting Donald Trump, this is easy, for the ones who made the choice while being unsure, maybe not as easy….and for the ones who voted against him, seemingly impossible to deal with….so they continue to protest and balk at every decision he makes.  What a sad situation this creates for our country.

As a Christian American, I feel we made the right choice…. the only choice for those of us who are pro life and want to see God and His laws enforced above our own.  We have all seen and lived with the consequences that come when God is removed from our government, schools and homes. It took much soul searching and repenting through many heartfelt prayers from God’s people in order to get to where we are today….and we have a long way to go.

Nobody has to make as many important decisions (choices) as our President does…. and has already made in his short time in office.  Through the choices he’s made so far, I feel that he is truly trying to return our country to being a nation under God who honors our creator and seeks His guidance. Let us continue to pray for him and all our leaders and that those so opposed to him might change their minds and begin to treat him with the respect other Presidents have been shown.

The most important choice any of us ever make is whether to follow God or man, to choose life or death, to believe or deny that God exists.  Choosing sides in this matter has life-changing results, and as in all choices we must first review the facts.  There is undeniable evidence that Jesus Christ did exist, but was He who He claimed to be? (The Son of God)  That is the question we must answer in order to choose.

I know without a doubt that Jesus is who He said He is and that God had a huge role in choosing President Trump.  Remember the page from the Bible that was found after the catastrophic fires in Tennessee?  It was from the book of Joel and the verse that stood out was Joel 1:19.  O Lord, to thee will I cry; for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.

When I read the entire book of Joel it became clear to me that this was truly a sign from heaven that God has this country under His control and that only good could come from all the prayers and crying out to Him that his people had done.  In verse 2: 23 He told us to: “Be glad then….and rejoice in the Lord your God: for He hath given you the former rain(blessings) moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.”

In case you missed it, Franklin Graham pointed out to President Trump during the inauguration that rain is often used to represent blessings in the Bible….and it started to rain just as the President began his speech!  This was the highlight of the inauguration for me and the reassurance that God was the only one that tampered with the results of the election….if anyone had any doubts.

More recently, a tornado ripped through a college campus in another southern state and inside the damaged sanctuary, lying undisturbed, was a Bible opened to the 46th Psalm, which begins:  “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”…. What another powerful assurance that He is in control and all is well with the world!

My prayer today is that while we are all busy choosing sides that we will truly realize the importance of making the right choices and look to God for our guidance and reassurance that He is who He says He is and thank Him daily for the many blessings on us and our nation.

Recently I’ve been writing blogs..most of them about my faith and things the Lord has taught me in my Christian life over the last 51 years. My inspiration comes from my personal relationship with Jesus Christ and my desire to see that my grandchildren grow up in a Christian nation. My goal is to bring glory to Him and help others to see that there is POWER in the name of JESUS!
