Abbas to Meet Pope Francis on Saturday

Furious diplomatic activity by all sides is reportedly proceeding in the run up to Sunday’s meeting in Paris which will see senior diplomats from 70 countries coming together to discuss relations between Israel and the Palestinians. On Saturday, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is scheduled to meet with Pope Francis at the Vatican, one of many meetings he is holding this week with senior European officials.

Hamas Hackers Infiltrating IDF Phone Networks

The IDF announced on Wednesday that it has exposed a network of hackers working for the Islamist terror militia Hamas which rules the Gaza Strip. Among their tactics was to attempt to lure IDF soldiers to download Trojan Horse spyware onto their mobile devices. The methods employed to trick soldiers into downloading the Spyware included using the hacked accounts of young women as bait to lure the soldiers into online liaisons.

Israeli Arabs Strike to Protest Government Actions

A general strike was observed Wednesday by Israel’s Arab population, covering schools, stores and local government offices in dozens of Arab villages around the country. The strike was in protest of the government’s decision to demolish several illegally built structures in the Arab village of Kalansuwa on Tuesday, and plans were announced for a large protest march to take place in that village on Friday.

Tensions Rising in Gaza Amidst Electricity Shortage

Potential unrest is brewing the Gaza Strip, ruled by the Islamist terror militia Hamas, over electricity shortages which have persisted for several weeks, growing more acute in recent days. Residents are struggling to heat their homes in the middle of an unusually cold winter, as Palestinian Authority officials blame Hamas and the international community for failing to pay for the fuel needed to run the Strip’s sole electrical plant. Hamas has in turn blamed the PA for refusing to lift taxes on imported fuel which make running the plant so expensive.
