Driving Out the Enemy

Driving Out the Enemy

What do you do when it feels like the entire world is again you? When you feel beat down by the circumstances of life? How do you handle those hard times?

I haven’t always handled them well.

I’ve let circumstances determine my mood, behavior and even words that I’ve said.
Have you ever been there? My results were not positive. How about you?

The lesson I have learned is… there is a better way.

When the world seems like it is against me, I don’t have to take it personally. I can choose not to be wounded. I can choose to believe that because of Jesus, I have everything I need to live the John 10:10 abundant life.

I can choose to believe that God is bigger than the worst of my circumstances.

I can choose to declare God’s truth over my life to combat the lies of the enemy.

I stand on the word and believe that God has already promised me victory. “Despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” (Romans 8:37 NLT)

I will not give up. God has promised a great reward to those who do not give up. “So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.” (Hebrews 10:35-36)

I can take comfort knowing that God is my refuge. He has it all under control. “The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you. He drives out the enemy before you; he cries out, ‘Destroy them!’” Then, “How blessed you are, O Israel! Who else is like you, a people saved by the LORD? He is your protecting shield and your triumphant sword! Your enemies will cringe before you, and you will stomp on their backs!” (Deuteronomy 33:27, 29)

I don’t have to attempt overcoming dire circumstances in my own strength. When I trust in God as my refuge, He drives out the enemy before me.

He will fight for me and He will fight for you, too. Will you trust Him today?
