Jihad On A Train

Europe has suffered another jihadist attack. Yesterday, Muhammad Riyad, a 17 year-old refugee from Afghanistan, attacked 18 people with a knife and an ax. Fortunately, no one on the train was killed. But five people were critically injured and two are reportedly “clinging to life.” German police shot and killed Riyad.

An ISIS flag was found at his home, and the Islamic supremacist group has released a suicide video of Riyad vowing to “slaughter infidels.” Nevertheless, a spokesman for German authorities said, “We are searching for a motive.”

We have heard our own president and top officials say similar things after terrorist attacks in this country. After the attack in Nice, French authorities were struggling for a motive too.

Perhaps more than anything else, that line in so many news reports typifies the divide between normal people and the governing classes who evidently think we’re all idiots.

By the way, there are reports today that a “man of Moroccan descent” stabbed a woman and her three daughters at a French resort for being insufficiently dressed. According to one report, “An eight-year-old girl was left fighting for her life.” I wonder how long it will take French authorities to unravel this mystery.

An Islamic Link?

One of the things we are learning about Baton Rouge cop killer Gavin Long is that he traveled to Africa to find his roots. He converted to Islam and, as I noted yesterday, established links with the Nation of Islam, an extremist group led by Louis Farrakhan. He wished people “Happy Ramadan” in social media posts. Little of this information manages to find its way into major media reports.

ISIS and Al Qaeda have been urging sympathizers for months to find soldiers and police officers and to kill them. Shouldn’t we be more interested in this link?

Here’s something to consider. Some people looking at the statistics are downplaying the rise in police killings as minor. Of course, all police killings are heinous acts. But the context and motive do matter.

Police are threatened every day in confrontations with criminals. But what is happening now goes far beyond routine “occupational hazards.” Police are being killed not by criminals trying to escape. Instead criminals are hunting cops and assassinating them.

How many of you heard about the March attack on a Maryland police station by three brothers? One “recorded his last will and testament in a cellphone video” before he went to attack the station. The others recorded the attack. Who does that? Radical Islamists.

Remember the Muslim gang member who traveled from Baltimore to assassinate two officers in New York City? Gavin Long did the same thing. He traveled hundreds of miles from Missouri to Dallas and then to Baton Rouge — all in order to find police he wanted to kill.

There are plenty of police in Missouri. Instead, Long wanted to stoke more violence in a city already on edge. Long knew emotions were raw in Baton Rouge and he wanted to overthrow the civil order.

These people are revolutionaries making common cause with radical Islam to bring America down. Yet Obama and the media willfully avert their gaze and refuse to connect the dots. They try to make it about something else, anything else — workplace violence, hate crimes or guns.

These attacks on police are attacks on America itself. And yet when these killings happen, we get lectures about past racism and about white people needing to listen.

Listen to what? Does anyone seriously think that the Dallas and Baton Rouge shooters were upset that affirmative action isn’t working as effectively as they’d like?

We need to be having a serious conversation about how wide-spread such anti-American attitudes are among illegal immigrants, refugees and even some Americans. How many people are there who want to see America burn?

Blue Lives Matter

Sadly, assaults on police officers and intolerance towards those on the thin blue line continue.

A police officer in Ohio was hospitalized after a restaurant worker put shards of glass in his food.

A police cruiser in Florida was firebombed Sunday. Thankfully no one was in the vehicle. A note supporting the Black Lives Matter movement was found at the scene.

A cashier at an Alabama Taco Bell was fired Saturday for refusing to serve police officers. The cashier wasn’t the only problem. A customer waiting for her food reportedly said she was about to demand a refund rather than eat in a restaurant with cops.

Next time you see a police officer, please go out of your way to thank them. Pay for their meal, give them a small gift card, pray for them. Let them know how much you appreciate them and value their sacrifice and service.

Christians United For Israel

I’m getting ready to head to Cleveland for the remainder of the Republican National Convention. For the past two days, I have been in Washington, D.C. for the Christians United for Israel (CUFI) Washington Summit. As many of you know, I am the head of CUFI Action Fund, the lobbying arm of Christians United for Israel.

There was tremendous enthusiasm among the Summit attendees for our efforts to make this year’s Republican Party platform the strongest pro-Israel platform ever. The 2016 GOP platform makes it clear that Jerusalem should not be divided, and calls for a two-state solution were dropped since it is obvious that there is no one in the Palestinian Authority who can be trusted to be Israel’s peace partner.

Melania’s Speech

The first day of the Republican National Convention featured a number of powerful speeches. But big media is focusing on a segment of Mrs. Trump’s speech that closely resembles a passage from Michelle Obama’s speech at the 2008 Democrat National Convention.

The passage is an accurate description of Mrs. Trump’s life as a legal immigrant, taught by her parents to work hard and dream big. But it does appear that a speechwriter inadvertently or perhaps intentionally borrowed from Mrs. Obama. Whoever was involved should be fired.

But to big media a few possibly borrowed lines about hard work and strong values appears to be a bigger scandal than the careless mishandling of our nation’s secrets.
