Stolen Identity

My name was exploited and personal resources at stake.

Robbed. Bamboozled. Deceived. A crafty thief stole from me. Stripping me bare of belongings and draining me dry. Utterly bankrupt and exposed to the most common scam on the planet. Information security failed, leaving me open to attack.

A victim of identity theft. Not the kind you hear about in the media. My identity in association with bank accounts and financial credit has never been damaged. No one has robbed me of “who I am” by posing as me online; running up a money debt for living pleasures—at my expense. To date, these areas remain secure and not breached.

But my identity was compromised. By a vile enemy. The thief who intends to kill, steal, and destroy. (John 10:10) He robbed me of “who I am” by strategic lies (both in my mind and labels imposed on me by others). He spent greedy time running up a debt, for his own pleasure, at my expense.

This evil one is the chief of thieves. Satan. A fallen heavenly being who first set his sights on stealing the identity of the greatest being in the universe. Cunningly, he went after God’s name and renown. Wanting to be higher than God and worshipped like God.

Satan is not very smart—what a idiotic thought and plot. There is not a created being who can take on God’s identity. The Great One. The Most High. He cannot be matched in name or in who he is…for He is matchless!

Through the ages attempts have been made to steal God’s identity. Satan. Baal. Muhammad. Buddha. Zeus. Many others. Many. He—the One True God—can never be a victim of identity fraud. His name trumps all names. These gods (except for Satan) are either dead or were never living beings. Yes, some are still worshipped. However, they are mute, deaf, motionless, and without life. My God is alive and well! An ever-present God who speaks, hears, and moves in mighty ways.

Satan’s day of doom and God’s-going-to-put-you-in-your-place destiny is coming! He was thrown down once (kicked out of heaven) and he will be defeated once and for all. (Revelation 20) Until that time, there are detection and preventive measures to protect our good name (in Christ).

Safeguarding against spiritual identity theft:

• We have the power in Christ to overcome. We can thwart the enemy’s efforts. “He who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4 AMP

• God knows my name. And yours. A secure identity is found in Christ. My name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life—no one or god can rob me of my spiritual inheritance.

• The truth of the Word cancels out the untrue words from the enemy. This is not a debate. God’s Holy Word wins hands down! The scriptures are our information security plan. I’m taking my cue about “who I am” from the great “I AM.”

• The death and bloodshed of Jesus on the cross recovered our identity and what the enemy stole from us. Canceling all sin debt. As Christians, our ID cards contain endearing terms: beloved, children of God, and saints.

In Christ our identity remains secure and not breached. Our spiritual resources are always intact in heaven’s bank and no one can use our line of credit. The blood of Jesus completed a one time transfer of every spiritual blessing heaven has to offer. (Ephesians 1:3)

So, join me. I’m going to the enemy’s camp (yes, I am!) and I’m taking back what he stole from me. Let’s get going!
