Prayer Is the Power!

Jerry CalfPrayer is the power that changes men’s hearts, attitudes, and even personalities.  Through specific prayer, I have watched as God softened and turned hearts.  I have rejoiced to see God rebuild relationships that either were destroyed or on the path to destruction.   One such relationship had been shattered for approximately 6 years, which also involved a very small child.  God brought that relationship back into being through the broken submissive prayer of a young man who just gave it all to God admitting he himself could no longer try.   I wonder why we do not spend more specific prayer over troubled relationships.   What relationships are you praying for?

Prayer is the power to bring men to salvation.   In my own ministry, I have enjoyed being a part of the harvest of over a hundred persons saved; through prayer alone.

Many, many are the testimonies of persons coming to Jesus through specific prayer.   I have experienced the power to save, both within my household, and thousands of miles away with the same effectiveness.  Many testimonies have been shared with me of people being saved whose names had been added to our prayer list for salvation, and whom I had never met.   None of these people were aware they were being prayed for.   Through prayer, giving God access to a person’s life to do what He deems necessary to bring that person to the Cross of Jesus; through prayer, breaking down the strongholds of the devil against the truth of God over that person’s mind; through prayer, asking God to deliver that person from the evil one.

One such young lady who lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, had been added to our prayer list.   She had never been in a church for any reason in her entire life; neither did she have any interest.   One Sunday morning she awoke under the heavy conviction that she needed to be in church.    She had no idea where to go, so she began walking from her home.   She happened upon a small Baptist church; went inside; heard the message and gave her heart to Christ!

I wonder why we do not pray more, and more specifically, for the salvation of persons, by name.   Who are you praying for, by name, to be saved?    Prayer is the power to save!

Prayer is the power to change the person who prays!   Prayer places you in the intimate presence of God.    Prayer overruns you with the holiness of God!  How could you not change?   Prayer will renew your mind to having the mind of Christ over things of importance.   The more earnestly you pray the more you change into the image of Christ.    It is easy to tell the one who has spent much time in the presence of God through prayer.  I wonder why we do not pray more.   Prayer is the power to change!

Prayer is the power that glorifies, hallows, God’s name.   Prayer is the power that releases the Kingdom into earthly places and situations.   Prayer is the power that moves God’s will into completion.   Prayer is the power to receive that which is needful.   Prayer is the power that opens the way to forgiveness.   Prayer is the power that overcomes temptation.   Prayer is the power that delivers from evil.   Prayer is the power that confesses that God is the holder of the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever!   I wonder why we do not pray more to the glory and honor of God.   Prayer is the power that exalts God the most!   Pray On!
