Obama In The Ladies Room
We told you yesterday how Big Business, thoroughly coopted by the sexual revolutionaries of the left, is attempting to browbeat the people of North Carolina and their elected representatives.
Today we are witnessing the marriage of Big Government and Big Business as five agencies within the Obama Administration are threatening to withhold funding from the families of North Carolina.
This is not a battle over the right to vote or whether the races can sit together at lunch counters. The issue at stake, unbelievably, is whether the women and girls of the Tar Heel State will be allowed, in Barack Obama’s America, to go to the bathroom or change in a locker room without fear that a strange man claiming to be a woman will be standing next to them.
So much for tolerance — or common sense — in the left’s fundamental transformation of America.
According to the Washington Post, bureaucrats at the departments of Education, Health and Human Services, Housing, Labor and Transportation are working furiously to figure out how many billions of tax dollars can be withheld from the children and families of North Carolina as punishment for the state’s rejection of radical social engineering.
This is beyond outrageous! It’s no wonder a new poll finds that 62% of Americans feel their “beliefs and values are under attack.” (See next item.)
But I don’t know what is worse — the actions of left-wing bureaucrats and our corporate elites or the silence from congressional leaders on Capitol Hill.
Every one of those cabinet secretaries should be hauled before Capitol Hill and forced to explain themselves in public hearings. House and Senate leaders should immediately make it clear that any money taken from the residents of North Carolina by the “perversion lobby” will be restored by Congress.
But ponder this: The Obama Administration was willing to shut down the entire federal government if Congress dared to cut funding to a private organization, Planned Parenthood, because it destroys the lives of unborn children every year.
The left argued that it was unfair for right-wing politicians to impose their values on a private group.
Yet Obama and his bureaucratic henchmen are now threatening not a private organization, but the people of an entire state because their elected officials refused to succumb to a radical agenda promoted by a very, very small special interest group.
If you are looking for a war on women, the left has just declared war on the women of North Carolina.
Out Of Touch
Hillary Clinton seems perplexed by the appeal of Bernie Sanders. Washington elites are surprised that the GOP’s two top vote-getters are Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. I can’t tell you how many times I hear well-meaning people say, “I just don’t get it.”
Our elites are out-of-touch, and maybe today’s Quinnipiac poll will give them a clue. Here are some key findings:
- 57% of Americans agree with the statement “America has lost its identity.”
- 57% also say that they are “falling further and further behind economically.”
- 53% believe we need “a leader who is willing to say or do anything to solve America’s problems.”
Speaking Up For Israel
Speaker Paul Ryan is a man on a mission. And his mission right now is to improve relations with the state of Israel. That is why Speaker Ryan is in Israel this week, and why he chose to visit the Jewish state on his first overseas trip as speaker of the House.
That is quite a contrast to the last seven years. It took Barack Obama five years to visit Israel, and he’s been there only once — as many times as he has gone to nations such as Cuba, Senegal and Tobago.
Speaker Ryan has a lot of work to do.
Referring to America’s alliance with Israel, Speaker Ryan said this:
“I don’t have a big Jewish diaspora in my district. But I have huge pro-Israel supporters in my district. The evangelical churches. The common American citizen understands that our ties with Israel are deep and strong, and that they’re mutual. . .
“We have international terrorism that is threatening the civilized world. It’s threatening us. They’re coming at Israel but they’re ultimately coming for us. So we are partners in this war [against] radical Islamic terrorism. Israel is an indispensable ally in that. . .
“[Additionally,] we share the same values. You are an oasis of democracy in a tough neighborhood. And it’s very important to us to keep these alliances.”
President Ryan?
Speaking of Paul Ryan, the hot rumor in Washington is that GOP party insiders are planning to manipulate the convention so that neither Donald Trump nor Ted Cruz wins the nomination. Instead, they want to nominate Paul Ryan.
For his part, Ryan has repeatedly denied that he is part of such an effort. He has said that the nominee should be someone who ran in the primaries.
During an interview with Megan Kelly, Ted Cruz blasted the idea that the party establishment might attempt to “parachute in some white knight.”
Conservative strategist Kellyanne Conaway added that the Trump and Cruz factions are united against any establishment plot to “subvert the entire will of the people” by nominating “somebody who has not been part of this process at all” or who “was soundly rejected by the voters and has since left the race.”
Rep. Steve King (R-IA) said that such a move “could be the end of the Republican Party.” I think he could be right.
For the life of me, I don’t see how party elites could say they know better than the millions of voters who participated in the primaries and caucuses, and that they are going to reject both candidates who, between them, won the vast majority of the votes.
