Human Rights, Sexual Immorality and the Truth About Figs

The state of Mississippi is still feeling the heat following passage of a law meant to protect the religious rights of the people when it comes to being forced to participate in same sex marriage unions.

As explained by the governor as he signed it, the law was not meant to change the Supreme Court’s unconstitutional ruling to what is termed a human right by the LGBTxyz community but give cover to churches and local businesses from being forced into taking part in immoral activities.

It is not a license to discriminate against people just because of sexual orientation but to ensure the right given by the US constitution continues to allow citizens to refuse participation in acts and ceremonies due to religious belief.

There is, of course, opposition to freedom of religion. The view of the left was articulated in the New Mexico Supreme Court decision on Elaine’s Photography that held that a human right trumps a religious right. There is no such right found in the constitution and there is also nothing that terms marriage of any type as a human right.

A Mississippi based organization has put up a billboard to protest the freedom law and it makes the strangest of statements, probably because they have never read the passage they are referencing.

Planting Peace put up the billboard that depicts a badly drawn cartoon Jesus with his head in his hands and a statement that reads, “Guys, I said I hate figs and to love thy neighbor”

The billboard is referencing Matthew 21:18-22 when Jesus curses the fig tree for having no fruit, not because He hated figs. Yet, Planting Peace in their statement argues that we don’t see a lot of anti-fig legislation or how figs are immoral due to this passage.

Planting Peace goes on to argue that such religious freedom legislation is to blame for young people, who engage in the sexual immorality the group supports, taking their own lives.

These statements and arguments are nonsensical at best and are only advocating the unimpeded deviancy they desire to promote while trying to shame Christians into denying the clear teachings of scripture.

I have always taught in my church that the Lord loves all people despite the sins we have been enslaved. Jesus died for the homosexual and the heterosexual alike, declaring that they must stop their sexual immorality.

There is forgiveness for sexual sins of all types even though the bible decrees a death penalty for all types of sexual immorality.

By the way, Jesus loves figs and that is why He cursed that fig tree. He was looking for fruit but found none. He does the same with us. He comes to inspect us for fruit even though He knows the answer, He looks for Himself and if He does not find any fruit on the tree, well…. You know the answer to that, don’t you?
