Where Are the Warriors?

Jerry CalfAnd David said wistfully, “Oh, if only someone would give me a drink of the water from the well of Bethlehem.  You know the one I’m talking about, the one by the gate!”

(2 Samuel 23:15)

Three men of valor, three warriors of the King, Josheb-Basshebeth, Eleazar, and Shammah, over heard the casual musing of their leader, King David, and in an instant devised a plan of action to get the King a drink from the spoken well.   Together they fought their way through the vast hoards of Philistines, killing many hundreds in their wake, to retrieve a drink of water for their beloved King.

It was that simple.  It did not matter to them whether they lived or died, because serving their king was their life.  Presenting a drink of water to their king was all they lived for now.  They lived to please their king.  They reckoned their own lives as unessential.  They had considered themselves as already dead, so they could live to serve their king.

Only by God, could Josheb-Basshebeth slay 800 Philistines with his spear.   Only by God, could Eleazar challenge the Philistines and take out an army.    Only by God, could Shammah stand and battle Philistines all day so there was a great victory in Israel.   How could these earthly men achieve these supernatural victories?   It was because they considered themselves already dead, and lived only to serve God’s anointed King of Israel.  They were dead men living to serve God’s anointed King.

Millions have lived on this earth, yet, how many of us today have accomplished anything that would deem a remark in the Holy Scriptures?  Most today are just contented to know their names appear in The Lamb’s Book of Life.   Therefore, we struggle.  The church is not fulfilling the Great Commission; not reaching the lost.  The world has no curiosity in what we have.  Satan is laughing while we build beautiful buildings. The church today is powerless!  There are no Mighty Warriors in the church today, living only to serve the King!

God desires to save the lost, but the church is standing in the way, happily developing programs.  While in the eyes of the lost, we are no better than they are.    Through the watering down of doctrine, plus deceptions from Satan, we have become blissfully ignorant of our own ignorance.

Lord, where are the mighty men and women, the Warriors of Valor, within the church who live only to serve their King . . . King Jesus?   Raise them up, LORD.   Raise them up!
