As we continue on with the final part of this teaching, let’s once again take a look at the main verses:
NKJV – Luke 22:31-34
31 And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” 33 But he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death.” 34 Then He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.”
Once again remember the enemy is getting restless; remember the closer we get to Christ’s return the harder satan is going to work to take as many souls with him as he can. He is trying to Sift, Stir and shake the faith out of every Christian he comes in contact with especially the ones who know their potential. The goal is to mess up our judgment, cause us to sin and doubt our faith. He will come at us with confusion, indecisiveness, bitterness, greed, prejudice, hate, sexual preferences and so forth. The goal is to also keep us focused on the foolish things of the world instead of on an eternity with our Lord. We need to be ready and built up in Christ, and be a strong Church Body, we need to know who we are in Christ as a Family so that we can stand strong together for those times when we are being sifted so that our faith will be strong.
So with that being said what if you were sifted as a Christian, as a follower of Jesus Christ what would we find? Do you have a weak foundation that when you are thrown in the air your entire Spirit man just gets blown around in the wind. Brings to remembrance church hoppers, who never know what they believe half the time. They so easily get tossed back and forth just like chaff during the winnowing process where it is thrown in the air. Or would we have a strong foundation.
Just as Jesus told Peter about what he was going to do, we need to ask ourselves some questions….
Does the enemy see us as a weakling or a threat?
Does Jesus even know who we are?
If you were sifted would there be evidence that you are a child of God?
What would Jesus prophesy to you about the things you will do?
In comparison to Luke 22:33-34
33 But he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death.” 34 Then He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.”
Will He say to you right now? Will He say :
- By next week you will have ignored me several times a day?
- By the time I see you next week you will have missed 5 opportunities to show someone my love.
- In one month I will hear you pray to me for the first time without asking for something.
On a positive Note maybe Jesus will say to you:
- I tell you (insert your name), you have been a blessing on this earth to many and showed them my love.
- You have been faithful and to that I say well done my good and faithful servant.
- You remind me of me, keep it up!
It’s time to become the Men and Woman of God that we were called to be. Men and Woman who are strong in Faith and in the Mighty Power of the Holy Spirit. So full of Faith that satan trembles near us and if he dares try to sift us we will be strong and prevail in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ! Be encouraged and blessed!
