Scripture tells us, “For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.” (Matthew 12:34)

People’s comments largely come from their own motives, their own woundings, and their own insecurities.

Hurt people hurt others.

When they are secure in their God-given identity, they can be excited for you and even offer support.

Free people free others.

And when WE are secure in our God-given identity, we can separate them from their stuff and know that it’s not them, and love them regardless.

Give love. Give blessing.

“Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” Luke 6:38 NLT

Knowing our identity in Christ gives us hope. When we know our identity, we can love others out of the overflow of that assurance.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 NLT

Trusting and obeying the One who gives us hope, brings us a sweet reward – happiness.

Can you walk in your God-given identity today and show love regardless?

What’s your overflow?
