Iran slams the door to US imports
The Islamic Republic of Iran has officially banned the importation and distribution of all consumer goods from the US, dealing another blow to the hopes of many in the Obama Administration for a new era of rapprochement between the two countries following the signing of the Iran nuclear deal earlier this year. Iran’s Commerce and Industry Minister Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh declared that the move is needed “to stop entry of American consumer goods and to prohibit products that symbolize the presence of the United States in the country.”
