The High Road…Forgiveness

Today let’s choose to take the high road and forgive once again.

Matthew 6:14-15  For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Matthew 18:21-22 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times or seventy times seven.

Luke 17:3-4 So watch yourselves. If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them.  Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”

Ephesians 4:31-32  Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

1 Peter 2:19-23 For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example that you should follow in his steps. “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

Romans 12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Father, thank you for forgiving us our sin. (Have you asked him?) We have all have fallen short in our walk with you. Today, we choose to let go of all hurt, past pain, memories, bitterness, false accusations, etc. and trust your Word for our lives. It is true hurting people hurt people. Let that not be us today.

Lord you said to never repay evil with evil, but overcome evil with good. May that always be so in our lives, Jesus. Even if we feel stepped on at times, I thank you that it is you, Oh Lord, which repays us. Snakes bring retaliation, but we are not snakes, we are lovers of God. Therefore, we choose to forgive. We choose to wait for you to show yourself strong on behalf of our obedience to you.

Today, all across this globe we choose to take the high road. We will take the high road of forgiveness. We will choose to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, even when we suffer for it. Amen

Have A Blessed Day, For this is the Day the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it.
