This is what the Lord has shown me this morning…..I am struggling with Facebook, I do not post much anymore on Facebook, FGGAM posts are automatic to FGGAM and my personal Facebook, Twitter and Google accounts. I am discouraged by what I see on Facebook. I look at it to take the temperature of people…….I am sadden by what many post, nonsense or false news reports. It seems many grab anything off the internet and post it as “news”. How do they check sources? I have been a newsman for almost 40 years and I am disgusted, but this seems to be the way of America. Posting almost anything, whether it is true or not, even so called Christians. The Lord has me analyzing all social media. What we got here folks is a crises. Our society, even the Church has not improved with the evolution of Facebook, Twitter and all other social media, I say our social condition is even more critical, in fact we are in intensive care. What on earth did people do before Facebook?
Don’t get me started on pictures people post, Of their alcohol drinks? Of themselves half nude? Dirty jokes? Cuss words? Slandering people? Even so called Christians.
It is a strong indicator as to where we are at as a society, even as the Church.
Sure there are positives, Spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ, being salt and Light and reconnecting with old friends………but other than that I do not know.
I am encouraged when I meet parents who do not allow their children on Facebook and other social media until they are 16 or older, but still with supervision.
Many adults need God’s supervision on social media.
It seems to me the menu of communication sources in the world have become just too much. It has watered down the effectiveness of communication, just like the American Church as a whole has watered down the message of Jesus Christ.
It seems that Facebook has become a “Church” for far too many. The most recent figure I have is just 7% of America goes to Church on Sundays, down fro 9% a few years ago.
Major conversations now happen without people talking…TEXTING! Major decisions, like marital relations, divorce, etc… are handled by TEXTING! I know I see it as I counsel people!
Here in August of 2015 we are a product of what we have been doing over the last several years……….look around what do you think of America and the Church of 2015?
The Lord has shown me it is time for us to return to the Sermon on the Mount and The Ten Commandments, we should have never left.
