Several members of Knesset from the Joint (Arab) List visited al-Aksa Mosque on the Temple Mount on Tuesday to meet with Moslem leaders and declaring that “an attempt to divide al-Aksa will ignite the region in another war” and blaming the Netanyahu-led government for creating and encouraging a confrontational atmosphere. The visit came just two days after a riot by dozens of Palestinian youths on the Temple Mount resulted in several injuries and arrests. Additionally, several prominent Palestinian leaders have repeated in recent days that they deny that there ever was a Jewish Temple on the site and that it has always been exclusively a Moslem holy site.
