Defense Of Israel Project, with Gary Bauer

From: Gary L. Bauer

In the last 24 hours, three top Obama Administration officials testified before Congress in support of the deeply flawed Iranian nuclear deal. Instead of reassuring concerned members of Congress and citizens, their answers further undermined the rationale for the deal.

Consider this exchange yesterday between Secretary of State John Kerry and Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL):

Mr. Brooks: Well, do you believe that Iran is the world’s foremost sponsor of terrorism?

Secretary Kerry: Yes.

Mr. Brooks: And, that they will use the conventional weapons made available by the Iran nuclear treaty to kill Americans or Israelis?

Secretary Kerry: Well, they may. They may. . . .

On Capitol Hill today, Secretary of Defense Ash Carter was asked by Senator John McCain (R-AZ), “Do you, Secretary Carter, believe that Iran will change its behavior as a result if this agreement (the Iran nuclear deal) is finalized?”

Secretary Carter’s response: “I don’t foresee that or have any reason to believe that.”

Also during testimony today, Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) asked General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, whether his military advice was to NOT lift restrictions on Iran obtaining ballistic missiles and other conventional arms.

General Dempsey, America’s top military officer, replied, “Yes, and I used the phrase as long as possible. . . but, yes, that was my military advice.”
