Albuquerque Journal Dumps Coin-Operated Machines

Frank Haley of KDAZ AM730 REPORTS:Progress? First it was the phone booth now no more coin-operated newspaper racks!  New Mexico’s largest newspaper is making a move in response to industry trends. The Albuquerque Journal will phase out its coin-operated newspaper racks in favor of deals with retail outlets, and will focus its efforts on home delivery, in-store sales and digital subscriptions.
Starting July 1, the paper will phase out all of the racks and will add to its 900 retail locations.
