PRAISE GOD! The Albuquerque Journal is reporting this morning that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico has donated $60,000 to the Roadrunner Food Bank which will provide 300,000 meals to children and seniors in the state. We just give praise and thanks to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico and thank the Lord for the Roadrunner Food Bank and all the food Pantries around New Mexico! The funds will provide mobile food pantries at eight schools around New Mexico and two senior centers. Kurt Shipley, President of Blue Cross and Blue Shield New Mexico said, “In New Mexico, one in three children and one in five adults experiences hunger issues.” The Hunger in America report for New Mexico shows that 70,000 people are receiving food from Roadrunner Food Bank. Nearly 60 percent of the people who are hungry in New Mexico often have to make the choice between buying food or paying utility bills, medical bills or buying medicine according to Roadrunner Food Bank President and CEO Melody Wattenbarger. Pictures are from the Food Pantry at Valley View Christian Church in Edgewood, NM. Hunger is a great problem in New Mexico and we here at FGGAM are so very thankful for all of the people and organizations that have stepped up to the plate to serve God’s people! Matthew 25:35 teaches us….For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me. Why in the year of 2015 are people going hungry in New Mexico? Food Pantry feb 2food pantry
