Dear family of our Lord Jesus Christ and faithful Daily Cup readers,

Shonda SavageGood Friday to you.  Thank you for joining us here on the “Cup.” I’m Shonda Savage an inspirational writer at FGGAM.org and I’m filling in for Dewey today.

We thank God for what HE is doing and working through this ministry and we thank you, our faithful readers and supporters of the ministry for taking part of what God is doing here at FGGAM.

Today grab you cup and let’s drink in some of God’s word this day.

I see things going on in the body of Christ that grieves my heart, and I believe it grieves the heart of God too. That is the disunity among the believers. Jesus knew. He prayed with the disciples for unity among the body of Christ.

“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;  that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me” (John 17:20-23 NKJV).

Our Lord desires that we be one so that the world may believe that the Father sent His Son. No wonder so many reject the truth of salvation through Jesus when the body of Christ does not agree. Many believers have strayed from using the Bible as a plumb line, and have fallen into the snare of the enemy of tolerance. We’re not standing together on truth of the Word and the sovereignty of God.

One way I found to bring unity among brothers and sisters is to pray for one another. If someone frustrates you, pray for him. When we pray for others, then God begins to reveal to us things we did not know before. The revelation leads to compassion. Compassion leads to serving one another in love defeating the devil in his schemes of stirring up strife.

Brothers and sisters, I implore you today to decide to pray more than fuss. Let’s start with this prayer for unity in the body of Christ today:

“Now, our God, we give You thanks, and praise Your glorious name.” (1 Chronicles 29:13) Lord, thank You for the encouragement we have from being united in Christ. Lord, I pray that in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that as brothers and sisters in Christ, that we all agree with one another in what we say and that there be no divisions among us, but that we be perfectly united in mind and thought. Lord, I make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Christ gave to us the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors, and teachers so that we may be quipped to do good works of service, so that the body may be built up until we reach the unity of faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God become mature, attaining to the whole measure the fullness of Christ. Through Christ, the body is joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. Lord, may we bear with one another if we have a grievance against someone. And forgive as You forgave me. May we through love be bound together in perfect unity. We are in Christ and Christ is in us, so that we may be brought together in unity and then the world will know that You sent Christ and that You love us as You loved Christ. Lord, O how good and pleasant it is when Your people live together in unity! May we be sympathetic, love one another with compassion and humility. For we have been united with Christ in His death and we will certainly be united with Him in His resurrection. Thank You Lord. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
