Leonard praying at state capital bowingLeonard at CapitalMy wife, Diana, and I had the awesome opportunity to be at the New Mexico House of Representatives on Wednesday. I was invited, by Representative Jim Smith (R-Bernillo) to give the invocation prior to the legislative business session. Prior to the session I was able to meet many representatives and staff. It was also a day to recognize New Mexico State University. All of their cheerleaders and of course, Pistol Pete were present in full force with a resounding rendition of the New Mexico State fight song. I also met They also recognize Mr and Mrs Lou Henson retired basketball coach. He coached many years at Illinois University and New Mexico State University. The Representatives were having a friendly game of charity basketball on Wednesday night with the Aggies vs the Lobos. I didn’t read who won the game.

Every person I met I handed them my Valley View Christian Church card. At the top of the card reads, “I AM PRAYING FOR YOU”! Every person, with not one exception, who I presented them with this card, they responded, “we need ALL the prayers we can get”!

Here’s the gist of my invocation prayer at the Roundhouse: “Eternal God, through Whom we see what we could be and what we can become, thank You for giving us another day.

In these days, our cherished state is faced with pressing issues. Eternal God even as Solomon of old prayed, please give these honorable servants understanding hearts, and grant wisdom, and knowledge, to members of each party, as well as an extra measure of charity, that workable solutions can be reached to the benefit of all New Mexicans.

Help us all to be patient, yet resolute in the desire to do what is the right thing to do, however, Your inspiration might compel.

And may all that is done this day be for Your greater honor and glory. In Jesus name, Amen.”

So our day at the New Mexico Roundhouse was very exciting, but I have to leave you with this – PRAY FOR OUR REPRESENTATIVES OF ALL POLITICAL PARTIES. It’s a command from the Bible.

1Timothy 2:1-3 “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,”

Please join me in praying that God will bless all those in the Roundhouse,
Santa Fe,New Mexico and that they will do the right thing as God compels them.

Pastor Dewey Note: Thank you Pastor Leonard and Diana for sharing your story of prayer! Let us also be thankful we can pray in our Capital building! Amen!

Titus 2: 3-5 teaches us……….

Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.

Proverbs 27:17 teaches us……….

Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.

Sharon and I are also very thankful to our Lord for what Pastor Leonard and Diana mean to us. They helped launch FGGAM! Leonard is one our advisors here at the ministry to help keep us on the road God has set before us. We love them both very much and also all the folks at Valley View Christian Church in Edgewood.
