Increasing Signs of Anti-Semitism in Europe

EU (Illustrative)Israel’s deteriorating relations with Europe were highlighted this week when a planned visit to the EU parliament by IDF Maj.-Gen. Yoav Mordechai, who leads the IDF units deployed in the West Bank, was cancelled due to objections by Leftist MEPs who refused to hear what he had to say. Gen. Mordechai was scheduled to testify before the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Israel, a body responsible for “maintaining and developing Parliament’s contacts and relations with the Knesset.” But objections, including by an MEP from the IRA-affiliated Sinn Féin faction in Northern Ireland, demanded it be cancelled because Mordechai “has blood on his hands.” Meanwhile, the Community Security Trust in the UK released a report on Thursday showing, among other things, that there were 1,168 reported anti-Semitic incidents in Britain in 2014, the highest number ever recorded.
