sing a new song

Isaiah 42:10: “Sing to God a brand-new song, sing his praises all over the world!”

In this world that we live in we hear a lot of negative.  We hear about all the turmoil, the crime, the economic down fall, it’s very rare to turn on the news and hear something positive and uplifting.  As Christians it’s so important that we don’t get sucked into that same mindset.  We have a Book; it’s called the Bible, which we can turn to for something positive and uplifting.

There are some of you reading this today and you’ve been singing the same old song.  You’ve been singing about the negative, the woes of your life.  There’s power in your words and the words you’ve been speaking are bringing death and not life.  The Word of the Lord to you today is it’s time to sing a new song.  It’s time to quit focusing on the problems and proclaiming them to the world and it’s time to sing a new song that proclaims the greatness of God to the world.

I’m not saying that Christianity is easy or that it means we won’t have any problems.  What I’m saying is that we have a Source to turn to in the hard times and the world needs to see that.  When things aren’t so easy we can turn to the Bible and feed ourselves with positive news instead of turning to the news and feeding our circumstance with more negativity.  The world needs to hear a new song and it’s our job as Christians to proclaim it.

Are you tired of singing the same old depressing song?  Are you tired of dealing with the same “stuff” from day to day?  It’s time to turn that around and declare God’s Word over your situation.  It’s time to exercise some Hebrews 11:1 faith over your situation.  “What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead (Hebrews 11:1).”

If this doesn’t apply to you this week, we all know someone we can encourage with this word.  If this does apply to you, don’t you think it’s time to sing a new song?
