Israeli Arrested For Threatening Netanyahu

Israel’s political tensions ahead of elections scheduled for next March got another jolt on Friday when police reported they had arrested a 52-year-old resident of the coastal city of Netanya for allegedly threatening to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to Israel Radio the man, who made the threat during a conversation with a social worker, also threatened to kill any police officers sent to arrest him. In related news, a poll released Friday by theJerusalem Post ahead of the elections showed 60% of those polled wanted to replace Netanyahu as PM, although the numbers varied depending on who was offered as an alternative.
