Gaza Cease-Fire Appears To Be Holding

IDF soldiers prepare to evacuate the Gaza Strip (IDF Spokesperson's Office)Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement Tuesday applauding the IDF and the security and intelligence agencies for destroying the terror attack tunnels in Gaza over recent days, while cautioning that “there is no guarantee of 100% success, but we did everything to achieve the maximum.” His words came shortly after a 72-hour cease-fire began at 8:00 AM, which was agreed to by Israel and the major Gaza-based terror organizations and as of late afternoon appeared to be holding. All IDF ground troops have been withdrawn from the Strip and some units have been demobilized, but the majority of reserve units called up in the crisis are to remain in place, massed along the Gaza Border until a more permanent diplomatic settlement can be reached.
