Israel Continues Search For Terror Tunnels

IDF Naval vessel off the coast of Gaza (IDF Spokesperson's Office)Israeli combat engineers continued their search for terror tunnels on Monday but there was a sharp drop in rocket attacks on Israel and retaliatory air strikes, leading some observers to express hope that a cease-fire is possible in the coming days. Israel has declared that it will only return fire if fired upon, but reserves the right to continue searching and destroying tunnels which are a strategic threat to Israeli civilians. IDF spokesperson Moti Almoz told Army Radio on Monday morning that the “unlimited cease-fire means that we are prepared for the continuation of actions but are currently focused on the tunnels, and there are a few more that we need to work on.” The move by Israel came as the UN Security Council passed a motion Monday morning demanding an immediate and unconditional ceasefire for the upcoming Moslem holiday of Eid al-Fitr.Read More
