Facing Up To Radical Islam

Facing Up to Radical Islam!
Recent headlines have been dominated by alarming reports about hundreds of Nigerian Christian school girls kidnapped by the Boko Haram terrorist militia and held for sale to Muslim men. This detestable action has drawn the attention and outrage of many around the world, and the campaign to free the girls has been joined by many politicians and celebrities, including US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michele Obama. Yet in all the condemnations of this shocking act, few world leaders and celebrities have been willing to identify the true culprits behind these kidnappings as Islamic terrorists. Once again, Western leaders have cowered at the thought of being labeled Islamophobic if they name the real threat facing the world today. So why are Western leaders so reluctant to stand up to Muslim extremism? How serious a threat are militant Islamists to the West? Will the kidnappings in Nigeria finally awaken the world to the danger posed by radical jihadists? And where is the US administration in defending the West from this threat? Facing Up to Radical Islam! That’s our main feature this week here onFront Page Jerusalem. We’ll bring you an enlightening discussion on the failure of Western leaders to confront the real threat posed by Muslim extremists. Our special guest will be Melanie Phillips, a leading conservative author and commentator from Great Britain who has written extensively about this very topic in books, newspapers and journals far and wide. Plus, in our Word From Zion segment this week, we will look at how Christians should view the Islamic religion from a biblical perspective.

Program Features

On today’s program, we’re looking at the reluctance of Western leaders to identify radical Islam as a real threat to our values and way of life. This was seen again in the failure of many politicians and celebrities to call the recent kidnappings of Nigerian Christian school girls an act of Islamic terrorism. To help us understand this better, we turned to Melanie Phillips, a leading conservative author and commentator from Great Britain. She has written extensively about this very topic in books, and in newspapers and journals far and wide, including the London TimesThe Daily MailThe Jerusalem Post and The Spectator.

Word From Zion
It’s time now for our Word From Zion segment this week, when we open the pages of God’s word. Today, we’re going to look at what the Bible has to say about how Christians should view the religion of Islam. Here with this week’s lesson is Front Page senior producer David Parsons, who is also an ordained minister.

The Great Ingathering!
Due to several key factors, the number of Jews returning to Israel is on the rise this year. For instance, the Ukrainian crisis is forcing the 300,000 Jews in that troubled country to consider leaving for the safety of Israel. And the resulting economic downturn in Russia also has more Russian Jews thinking of moving to Israel. A recent poll found that as many as 75% of the large French Jewish community is thinking about emigrating to Israel or elsewhere. Jews in France are especially concerned about lingering economic woes, the recent upsurge in anti-Semitism and the threat of Muslim violence against them. Plus, more and more Jews have been coming home from America, India, China, Ethiopia and other distant places. In fact, we are close to the tipping point where more than half of the world’s Jews will soon be living back in their ancient homeland. That would be an historic landmark not seen in over 27 centuries. And this raises some important questions, such as why are they finally coming home now after two millennia of being scattered around the world? Is there any other people who have been forcefully uprooted from their land only to return one day to rebuild their nation? What does the Bible have to say about the modern-day return of the Jews? And is there a role for Christians to play in this remarkable homecoming? The Great Ingathering! That’s our focus next week here on Front Page Jerusalem. We’ll bring you an historic overview of the prophetic return of the Jews to their ancient homeland and a teaching on how the Bible amazingly said it would all happen a long, long time ago. Plus, we’ll have an interview with Michael Freund of Shavei Israel, who is helping Jewish communities like the Bnei Menashe from India return to Israel.
