Let us pray over today’s headlines in New Mexico:

Nearly 157,000 children in New Mexico are hungry each day or at the risk level.

New Mexico is at the bottom of a new report on child hunger. A ranking by Feeding America shows one-third of the children are going hungry. Data Book indicates the state is plagued by poverty, and came in last for healthy children last year.

New Mexico consistently  just hangs around the bottom in this Godly issue of child hunger, this is completely unacceptable. Thanks to efforts like this in Edgewood, New Mexico at the Edgewood Mobile Food Pantry at Valley View Christian Church, many families are fed each month. It is a blessing that Valley View and the Community of Edgewood get behind the effort to feed families, doing what the Church is to do. Whether Democrats or Republicans hold the top spots in State Government, child hunger remains serious. It is because it is not a political issue, it is a Godly issue, revival in our homes is needed. I pray for more Churches like Valley View that minister right into the homes of the area, whether they go to church there or not.  The outreach that Valley View and The Edgewood Mobile Food Pantry has in that area, East Mountains, Tijeras, Moriarty, and Estancia areas., is an EXTREME BLESSING! I will also add that Valley View also has a Weekend Backpack Program, providing weekend food for children at local elementary schools. PRAISE GOD!vallet view food pantry

Also more bad news for the New Mexico:

A new state-by-state comparison of graduation rates at four-year public colleges places New Mexico near the bottom of the list, with just three states – posting lower percentages of students who earned their bachelor degrees within six years.

The graduation rate for first-time students who enrolled in 2007 in New Mexico was a fraction above 45 percent. Nationwide, it was 63 percent.

Child hunger and education need to be addressed from God’s perspective, not man’s. Stop throwing money at these issues, throw Godly efforts at them. One teacher told me, “Enough of throwing money at education, we need a revival in our homes. We need to feed our children so they can come to the classroom and learn, we need to stabilize families.”

Children cannot learn with an empty stomach and unstable home life.

The famed British Evangelist Gipsy Smith used to ask his audience, “Do you really want to see a revival begin?” When the people said yes, Gipsy replied, “Then go back to your home and draw a circle around you on the floor. Then get down on your knees in the middle of the circle and ask God to convert everybody inside that circle. When you do that, and God answers, you are experiencing the start of revival.”
