Matthew 10:27: What I tell you now in the darkness, shout abroad when daybreak comes. What I whisper in your ear, shout from the housetops for all to hear! NLT
Yesterday was a warm, sunny day here in Georgia. We live in a subdivision here in Georgia and our home is up on a hill. When you look out our windows in the back of the home most of the houses are lower than ours so what you see are the tops of all the other houses. As I was sitting on our back deck yesterday afternoon and looking out over all of the house tops I was immediately reminded of this Scripture.
Jesus was teaching His disciples that whatever I teach you don’t be afraid to tell others. Don’t be afraid of criticism and persecution because others need to hear what I’ve taught you. In this day the tops of the houses were flat and so close together that they would stand on the house tops and shout messages to one another. Now, I can’t prove it but I can picture Jesus telling His disciples; “You stand up on your house tops and shout all kinds of things from one house to another. Why don’t you shout something worth shouting, share this message that I’ve shared with you.”
I believe the Lord wants the same from us today. We can sit around and talk about this one and that one, all of the crisis going on in the world today, but instead, why don’t we talk about something worth talking about. Why don’t we share this message that has been shared with us; the message of the cross, and of the love of Jesus and His grace. The Lord wants us to shout it from our housetops what he has taught us because others need to hear it.
I encourage you this week to not feed into the negative talk of the work place but shout the Lord’s message from the house tops of your life!
