Obama Plays Race Card Again

Barack Obama’s approval ratings have been in the tank lately. Gallup’s tracking poll has his rating at 40%. For most of the past week, he had been below that crucial threshold. And what does Obama blame for his falling numbers? Racism.

During a recent interview with the New Yorker, Obama says, “There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black president.”

Are there still people who oppose Obama just because he’s black? Sure. In a country of more than 300 million people there are bound to be a few bad apples. But there is no question that there are many more people of goodwill who desire racial reconciliation.

Barack Obama has benefited from the decency of average Americans far more than he has been hurt by racism. Millions of Americans voted for Barack Obama in 2008 precisely because they wanted a successful black president to bring America together. Many of the people who did so were white.

Mr. Obama and his allies want Americans to believe that when they got a letter in the mail cancelling their health insurance policy, they were angry because the president is a black man, not because they lost their current policy. When they see our allies upset with us and our enemies applauding, the media would have Americans believe their frustration is not caused by appeasement, but the color of the president’s skin.

By the way, 40% of Americans approve of Obamacare, the president’s signature accomplishment. A similar percentage (39.6%) approve of his handling of the economy. The far more obvious conclusion is that Americans disagree with Obama not because of his race, but because of his policies.

But that kind of rational thought process does not advance the left-wing narrative that conservatives are racists and extremists who should be marginalized and ignored.

Cuomo’s New York

When liberals speak off the cuff, those moments of candor often tell us everything we need to know about them. For example, during a radio interview last week, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo told us exactly what he thinks about conservatives and whether they should even be allowed to live in his state:

“Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives, who are right to life, pro-assault weapon, anti-gay? …Because if that is who they are and if they are extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York.”

I think Gov. Cuomo just told a couple of million New Yorkers that they are unwelcome in HIS state. Can you imagine Cuomo saying anything remotely similar to the large number of Muslim immigrants coming to New York? Where is the governor’s courage when it comes to Islamists who want women hidden under burkas?

Sadly, it is now widely accepted for the left to bash conservatives and Christians while attacking religious liberty. Cuomo’s comments are another reminder of just how intolerant the left has become.

Rule Of Law Or Rule Of Party?

Obama’s disregard for the rule of law during his five years in office has taught other liberal politicians how they should govern. The latest example comes from Virginia, where the newly elected governor, who won by just 56,000 votes in a very close election, is threatening to expand Medicare by executive order if conservatives in state legislature don’t bend to his will.

Now the state’s newly elected attorney general, who won his race by just 165 votes out of more than 2.2 million cast, is suggesting that he will not defend the state’s marriage amendment. In 2006, 57% of Virginians voted to protect the normal definition of marriage. Clearly the marriage amendment is far more popular than the liberal attorney general, and state legislators are, thankfully, exploring their options to defend the amendment.

But, once again, liberals think they know better than the people, and those “extreme conservatives” can just be ignored.

These extra-constitutional abuses of power are not only infuriating, but they represent a real threat to the future of our country.

If the rule of law is increasingly abandoned, the alienation of the people and voter cynicism will get much worse and this great experiment in ordered liberty under God will be in greater jeopardy.

Security Waived For Islamists

If you happened to be flying in the spring of 2012 and got the infamous crotch grab from the TSA, this item will make your blood boil. Our friends at the Investigative Project on Terrorism have now confirmed earlier reports that members of a Muslim Brotherhood delegation visiting from Egypt were given a “fast pass” through U.S. security by the State Department.

The Muslim Brotherhood has well-documented ties to terrorism. The interim Egyptian government recently banned it in part after Egyptian intelligence uncovered a plot between Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas operatives to bomb Christian churches in Egypt on Christmas Day.

So while kids were getting the grope down and grandmothers were being whisked away for spontaneous strip searches, the administration was going out of its way to make sure that Islamist “dignitaries” were spared such humiliation.

The March For Life

Tomorrow thousands of Americans will come to Washington, D.C., to take a stand for the sanctity of human life. America was founded on the principle that everyone is created equal and endowed by our Creator with the inalienable right to life. Yet that promise is tarnished by the reality that more than one million unborn children are destroyed in abortion facilities every year. We are better than that.

We fought a civil war to settle the question of whether some men possessed no rights we were bound to respect. In keeping with our founding principles, we rightly determined that every life has dignity and is worthy of respect.

Roe v. Wade is an injustice based on the same misguided philosophy as Dred Scott — that some humans are not “people” for the purposes of our Constitution. But I have confidence that this good and decent land will someday once again live up to its image as a “shining city upon a hill,” when every child is welcomed into the world and protected under the law.

After serving in the United States Navy for 22 years I retired from the service late in 1991. Having always loved the southwest, shortly after retiring, I moved to the Albuquerque area where I have resided since. Initially I worked as a contractor for approximately 6 years doing cable construction work. That becoming a little dangerous, at an elevated age, I moved into the retail store management environment managing convenience stores for roughly 16 years. With several disabilities, I am now fully retired and am getting more involved with helping Pastor Dewey & Pastor Paul with their operations at FGGAM which pleases my heart greatly as it truly is - "For God's Glory Alone". I met my precious wife Sandy here in Albuquerque and we have been extremely happily married for 18 years and I am the very proud father to Sandy's wonderful children, Tiana, our daughter, Ryan & Ross, our two sons, and proud grandparents to 5 wonderful grandchildren. We attend Christ Full Deliverance Ministries in Rio Rancho which is lead by Pastor's Marty & Paulette Cooper along with Elder Mable Lopez as regular members. Most of my time is now spent split between my family, my church & helping the Pastors by writing here on the FGGAM website and doing everything I can to support this fantastic ministry in the service of our Lord. Praise to GOD & GOD Bless to ALL! UPDATED 2021: Rick and Sandy moved to Florida a few years ago. We adore them and we pray for Rick as he misses Sandy so very, very much!
