Matthew 6: 12- and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin again us.  14- If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.  15- But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

On December 13, 2013, Claire Davis, 17, was shot at her suburban Denver high school. She was hospitalized and remained in a coma for eight days before dying from her injuries.

Her father, Michael Davis said at a memorial service for his daughter that the killer was blinded by anger and didn’t know what he was doing. “My wife and I forgive Karl Pierson for what he did,” Davis said. “We would ask all of you here and all of you watching to forgive Karl Pierson. He didn’t know what he was doing.”

Sheriff’s investigators say Pierson, 18, shot Claire at Arapahoe County High School. He was also a student at the school and killed himself after shooting Davis. Investigators say his target was a speech coach who had disciplined him, and Davis was a random victim.

Some law enforcement officers have vowed not to use Pierson’s name and have referred to him publicly as “the murderer,” but Michael Davis was conciliatory. “The young man that shot Claire had a name. His name was Karl Pierson,” Davis said, fighting back tears with his wife, Desiree, at his side. Davis said Pierson “allowed himself to become filled with anger, rage and hatred. The fact is that Karl was so blinded by his emotions he didn’t know what he was doing.”

Davis said his daughter’s last words were to ask Pierson, “Oh my gosh, Karl, what are you doing?” That was her way of trying to illuminate the emotional darkness that had enveloped Pierson, Davis said.

Pierson was carrying a shotgun, more than 125 shotgun shells, a machete and three homemade firebombs when he entered the school, investigators say. The school was quickly placed in lockdown and a sheriff’s deputy assigned to the school, James Englert, ran to confront him, authorities said. Pierson shot himself as Englert closed in. Sheriff Grayson Robinson has said Englert’s action to quickly confront Pierson prevented worse bloodshed.

We ask all to lift the Davis family in prayer for their loss and their subsequent Godly actions. We also ask for prayers for the Pierson family who also lost a son that tragic day.

After serving in the United States Navy for 22 years I retired from the service late in 1991. Having always loved the southwest, shortly after retiring, I moved to the Albuquerque area where I have resided since. Initially I worked as a contractor for approximately 6 years doing cable construction work. That becoming a little dangerous, at an elevated age, I moved into the retail store management environment managing convenience stores for roughly 16 years. With several disabilities, I am now fully retired and am getting more involved with helping Pastor Dewey & Pastor Paul with their operations at FGGAM which pleases my heart greatly as it truly is - "For God's Glory Alone". I met my precious wife Sandy here in Albuquerque and we have been extremely happily married for 18 years and I am the very proud father to Sandy's wonderful children, Tiana, our daughter, Ryan & Ross, our two sons, and proud grandparents to 5 wonderful grandchildren. We attend Christ Full Deliverance Ministries in Rio Rancho which is lead by Pastor's Marty & Paulette Cooper along with Elder Mable Lopez as regular members. Most of my time is now spent split between my family, my church & helping the Pastors by writing here on the FGGAM website and doing everything I can to support this fantastic ministry in the service of our Lord. Praise to GOD & GOD Bless to ALL! UPDATED 2021: Rick and Sandy moved to Florida a few years ago. We adore them and we pray for Rick as he misses Sandy so very, very much!
