“STEP OUT AND GO FOR IT!”
Good Morning!  I hope today finds you all still celebrating Jesus today.  Christmas for the Christian really is an everyday celebration as we celebrate Jesus, the reason why we are alive today.  I’ve been given the opportunity again today by Pastor Dewey to write the Daily Cup.  I would like to start by giving you a little background of myself and my wife Kristen as well as our ministry, Stephen’s Gate.
Kristen and I were both born and raised in Maine and have lived there our entire life up until November of this year.  We were on full time staff at a church in Northern Maine as Assistant Pastors.  During that time we visited some friends here in Georgia, it was during that time that the Lord began to speak to us and lead us in this direction.  To make a long story short, a few months later we resigned our positions as Assistant Pastors in order to prepare ourselves to relocate to Georgia.  We put our home on the market; I worked a regular job and continued to fill in preaching at the church in Maine as well as ministering at some other churches in Maine. After 324 days of our home being on the market in Maine, it finally sold and we were on our way to Georgia.  We arrived here the first part of November, I found a good job and we have a great church we are attending.
During our time in Maine I had the opportunity to begin to write a weekly devotion for our church website.  My wife suggested I call it Stephen’s Gate, which has a story of its own.  I never dreamed it would be anything beyond just a weekly devotion on a website.  However, it is something that has grown and God has used it to reach and minister to many people.  A few months ago a friend of ours in Maine, Angel Murchison who also writes for Dewey, introduced us to Dewey.  It has turned out to be a relationship that we didn’t expect.  Dewey has been a great support and encouragement to us during this time of transition and in the weekly writings I do for Stephen’s Gate.  Kristen and I have recently come under the covering of Pastor Dewey and For God’s Glory Alone Ministries.  This is something we all believe God has directed us to do and will result in great blessings all the way around.  In 2014 we will be looking into making Stephen’s Gate more than a weekly devotion but more of a ministry where it will be known as Stephen’s Gate Ministries.  We desire to be back into full time ministry and know that’s what God has called us to.  We are hoping to make more relationships this coming year and that God will open up doors for us to minister in different places.  We are excited to be connected with a ministry such as FGGAM that is growing, changing, and moving forward!
With all of that being said I want to encourage you to step out and do what God has called you to do.  It may be a risk, it may require a lot of change, it may require you to step out of your comfort zone but I can assure you the reward will be much greater.  There is nothing like being in the center of God’s will. 2 Timothy 1:6-7 says: “This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”  All of us have been given gifts and we all have an assignment from God but it’s important that we continually fan that into flames so that it doesn’t die.  Just as a fire in the natural burns brighter and hotter when you fan it, so will the spiritual fire that’s on the inside of you.  God has not given you a spirit of fear and timidity; it will only hold you back from doing what God has called you to do.  Go ahead, fan into flame those gifts, don’t hold back, step out and do what God is calling you to do.
I will be sharing again tomorrow and God has given me a word for 2014 I would like to share with you so be sure to check out Dewey’s Daily Cup tomorrow.  I would like to leave you with this word my wife posted on Facebook this morning, God Bless!
“The word for 2014 is “Embrace the New and do not mourn the old, GREAT JOY is on its way, stop trying to fit the old into the new, stop fighting it… Behold, I am doing a New thing, don’t you see it?”…..God has been saying that to me for the last couple days, and I just had to write it down…if it fits your life… Grab ahold of this word and run with it…!!!! Merry Christmas and expect Great JOY in 2014…!!!! Amen and Amen”

Thank you so much for your blessing Stephen! Love to you and Kristen and children!
Henri NouwenThe following is from the book, “Beyond The Mirror” written by Henri Nouwen as he writes about his near death …….
The great spiritual task facing me is to so fully trust that I belong to God that I can be free in the world—free to speak even when my words are not received; free to act even when my actions are criticized, ridiculed or considered useless; free also to receive love from people and to be grateful for all the signs of God’s presence in the world. I am convinced that I will truly be able to love the world when I fully believe that I am loved far beyond its boundaries.
When I awoke from my operation and realized that I was not yet in God’s house but still alive in the world, I had an immediate perception of being sent: sent to make the all-embracing love of the Father known to people who hunger and thirst for love, but often look for it within a world where it cannot be found.
Happy New year from all of us at FGGAM!
