In Everything Give Thankshappy thanksgiving 2

By: Angel L. Murchison

A group of women sat around my dining room table last Monday evening as we discussed all the reasons we have to be thankful. I was taping for my radio broadcast Destiny Moments. I so love that broadcast as it is real people, with real issues and a real destiny. Does that sound familiar, like someone you know?

Lori shared on how thankful she is for God’s word that led her to salvation. She is thankful for her Heavenly Father that sent his only son to die on the cross for her. She is thankful for the Holy Spirit to lead and guide her each day, and thankful for God’s healing power. She shared how her youngest son had a torn Meniscus in his knee and the Lord healed him. He had surgery to repair it, but it didn’t heal properly and he was in pain twenty four hours a day seven days a week. She shared how a sister in Christ was giving him a ride home from work and felt led to pull the vehicle over to the side of the road and pray for his knee. He was instantly healed, to God be the glory. She encouraged people if you are believing for a miracle, keep believing. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever and he is still in the miracle healing business. He heard this Mother’s prayer.

Next around the table was Merrilee who had Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease for the past twenty five years. She had been on oxygen for the past four years. About two months ago a Pastor and his wife from Texas prayed for her at her church and she was instantly healed. From that night on she has not needed to be on oxygen and no longer has to carry that oxygen tank around. Once again to God be the Glory, another miracle. She spoke about the love of God and she wants the world to know how much he loves them.

Next around the table was Annie who moved to Maine from Orlando, Florida. Now that’s quite a move. I have lived in Maine most of my life and as winter vastly approaches I can hardly believe she is here living among us and loving it. Only God could do that, only God. I had heard of Annie as she wowed the crowd at a local competition with Lord Your Holy. Although I wasn’t in attendance to hear her sing, I began to pray for her destiny. I met up with her at Wal-Mart one Saturday afternoon and we have been friends since. She actually wrote the song Destiny for the opening of my radio broadcast. That truly was a destiny moment. Annie is thankful for Jesus and his obedience to lay down his life for her. She is also thankful her son and his wife and her two grandbabies have moved to Maine from Orlando. Now she can hold her grandbabies, enjoy them asking her questions while she’s in the kitchen cooking. It brings back memories of raising her son and how much they remind her of him. She’s radical at praising him and desires to tell everyone about Jesus and his righteousness.

Next around the table is Kori. Kori moved here from Connecticut for new beginnings. Being a student at Job Corp she is thankful that she is a child of God. She is thankful for Annie that opened her door to her and didn’t even know her. She reminded us about the scripture: treat strangers with hospitality as they may be angels in disguise (Hebrews 12:2). We all chuckle as she said Annie was like a grandmother, an angel in disguise to her. Kori desired and prayed for a closer relationship with the Lord and he is granting that prayer. The Lord has blessed her with people that care for her, opened new doors and blessed her with awards. Just today she received the student of the month award. She is applying for college getting all A’s and B’s, definitely a new beginning. She now truly realizes she is a child of God and that he is directing her path.

We continued around the table talking about all we have to be thankful for. Encouraging people going thru hard times, a difficult season, God will be found both trustworthy and faithful. He will never leave you nor forsake you.

So here’s your assignment for today. Make a list of some things you are thankful for. Thank God for his goodness and his mercy. Now do something beyond yourself today. Ask God to use you to be that angel is disguise. Make today a brighter day for someone. Let your light shine for Christ, this world needs it.

My prayer for you today is this: Lord thank you for saving me, loving me and for your Holy Spirit and your word. Today Lord use me to be a light in this world. I have so much to be thankful for even if life seems hard at times. I pray today you will order my footsteps right into destiny. Give me creative ideas, a kind word to speak, a warm embrace or a pie for someone that may not have one. Let my thankfulness as a Christian spill over into another life today I pray. May my life bring glory to your name Jesus. I give you thanks, I give you thanks.

I Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV)

In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
